Tony Stark = 21st Century's Greatest Film Character!

RDJ and company have masterfully given us all these superb performances as Tony Stark where the character has been fleshed out in half a dozen films. In the history of film, not many other characters can make that claim let alone those that hit the screen this century.

The 20th Century gave us many greats and some appeared far less with far less development. Stark can hang on the all-time greats list with...

Sam Spade (Humphrey Bogart)
Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone)
George Bailey (James Stewart)
Blondie (Clint Eastwood)
Dirty Harry (Clint Eastwood)
John McClane (Bruce Willis)
Ethan Edwards (John Wayne)
Rooster Cogburn (John Wayne)
Travis Bickle (Robert De Niro)
Robin Hood (Errol Flynn)
Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford)
Han Solo (Harrison Ford)
Michael Corleone (Al Pacino)
Vito Corleone (Marlon Brando)

but the Tony Stark character seems to stand alone when you cut the criteria to 21st century cinema. Over the past 16 years, there hasn't been a better film character than Iron Man/Tony Stark.

Well done Mr. Downey.

Too bad that he looks like a lifeless cardboard figure in comparison to his superior comic book counterpart, who had more depth and more empathy.

Why yes. RDJr is probably the best actor of our generation and this is his signature character without a doubt. That's way ahead of the next competitor.

2016 has given us very few new film characters to cherish.

Marvel gave us Black Panther. Anyone else this year?

People have to get used to the idea of a "mere" comic book character being the best film interpretation of the century. If he didn't have his roots in a comic book, EVERYONE would be saying this was obvious. AFI would report it as so.

At least the U.N. hasn't attacked him like they did Wonder Woman.

Be true to your work, your word, and your Marvel characters!

Go Stark Go!

The People agree voting him and the character another People's Choice Award. How many is that now for him and the character?

IMDB needs to change their mind about these forums.
