1. Iron Man 3 2. Despicable Me 2 3. Fast & Furious 6 4. Monsters University 5. Man of Steel 6. Gravity 7. Thor: The Dark World 8. The Croods 9. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire 10. World War Z
It's hard to believe a non-event movie made so much money. Or maybe it is an event movie, but you'd think Avengers would cast a long shadow. Thor 2 isn't doing nearly so well.
I think it's a combination of RDJ and being the first film after Avengers, which many people thought of as "the next chapter."
Of course, that really only serves to explain the huge opening weekend. What IM3 made following that weekend, domestically, is still likely to beat Thor's entire run.

Gravity is overrated, yes because as many have stated it's just not a complete film. It's a Nature Channel TV type survival special with pretty visuals. There is no story there. That's why most people think thing complete films like Iron Man 3 are better. Oscar may not see it that way but those Academy voters have their heads so far up Hollywood elite backsides that does it really matter?
only a moron would think.. iron man 3 is worth insulting people over
