Why the fvck did they cancel this?!
By far one of the best cop shows to air on television, why'd they cancel this?! Not enough viewers or something?

shareYeah, not enough viewers. While it was still running, I'd often ask friends if they had heard of Southland, the answer was no every time.
R.I.P Seth Putnam.
Sad ain't it.
shareIndeed.
Like others have said- it was budget & a horrible job at promoting one of the best cop dramas on tv, ever.
I was disappointed it was cancelled on principle alone, but was still satisfied with the end of S5 even though it wasn't planned. I felt it had a series ending feel to it & it brought closure to many of the characters. Only a few storylines were left in limbo that I chalked up to SouthLAnd grittiness & reflecting real life where not everything is answered or tied up in a nice, neat bow.
It's a shame that stupid reality tv gets renewed year after year & a gem like this gets the can, but I'm extremely thankful to have had 5 years from a show that almost got cancelled after a short 1st season!
I recommend you check out The Shield, The Wire & Low Winter Sun (only 1 season & also got cancelled but had some great, powerful stuff in it like SL).
Take care, God bless.
This was the only decent American cop show besides The Wire that was worth watching in my book, and yes i was truly pissed when it was cancelled.

Agreed! I would add the The Shield to that list though.

Not enough viewers. I never came across anyone that had heard of it.
Look sharp, act sharp, be sharp.
Mostly it was budget...very expensive show to produce. People did watch it but TNT wasn't good at promoting it either...people found the show by word of mouth or turning the channel and falling in love with it.
Three actors already have new shows so no hope for this being "uncancelled"...but you never know...keep praying and wishing.
Crap! CRAAAAAP!!
