The whole 5th Season is just an awful end. It's not even a 'Season'!

The whole 5th season is just an annoying finish of a great 4-seasons TV show. During whole "5th Season" they just made up an ending story for every mayor character in it. And that's all!
It would be better if they just suddenly canceled it at the end of the 4th season, instead of struggling with inventing a horrible conclusion. What a TNT stupid As*holes!

I somewhat agree, but not just season 5. I think season 1,2,3, and 4 were equally awful.

Let me see if I get this straight. You think the show was awful from the beginning, but you continue to watch it for 4 more years?? Seriously, have you considered getting a life? I cannot imagine continuing to watch a show for 4 years when I think it's awful.

Hey K M be nice. I watched because I wanted to see JUST ONE good episode. They couldn't even do that. Bad pizza is still ok... Ya know. I like cop shows. Alright I'll tell you what you want to hear. Southland was GREAT!!

I think they just rushed things with season 5. Seasons 1-4 were great. But I have no idea what happened with season 5.

I came to Southland late and watched the entire series for the first time just recently. If anything, I thought the first two were the weaker (but still very good) ones. Seasons 3 - 5 were consistently excellent IMO.

I've a theory that people just get bored watching shows, and then blame falling quality instead of their own declining interest. Virtually every board for a long-running series on IMDB, has exactly the same type of threads. Boardwalk Empire is another one that former-fans complain about, despite the fact that it's got better year-on-year and remained hugely entertaining AFAIC.

I don't know how, but that is your opinion. I think Breaking Bad has been the best series in a very long time and that is because it did not drag on and on like Dexter, Weeds, and Lost.

Good analysis Luvie.

I came to it late too (and caught up), then Season 5 didn't seem to be coming to the UK so I bought the DVDs from the US(just as it started to air in some Godforsaken graveyard slot on UK TV - I'd rather watch one-a-day without commercials anyway).

I thought Season 5 was staggeringly good. As with Breaking Bad or The Sopranos (and I'm not comparing Southland to them) there was never going to be a 100% satisfactory way of ending it (other than all the characters coming to live at your house and reassuring you that they'll be around forever) but I thought they made a good fist of it. It's life, people change, fall out, die, take a different path. I'm really sorry it's gone, but I thought Season 5 was a worthy farewell.

Awight we're The Daamned we're a punk baand and this is called Carn't Be Appy T'day!
