A big budget but feels cheap

Don't agree at all. Visually, it may be the most impressive blu ray I own......they actually shot the film with 3D cameras, which seems to be a rarity because filmmakers don't seem to like the big, bulky, expensive cameras (deeming the process more "inefficient") and post-conversion has gotten to the point where it can be a very good alternative (see 'Gravity').

That being said, even for as good as many post-converted 3D films are today - having recently revisited 'Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides' on 3D blu ray - I still perceived a noticeable upgrade in quality. The depth of the 3D picture is more natural and realistic and the clarity of the picture is simply astonishing.

Simply said, if you wanted to showoff the 3D on your TV or have a display in a retail store - this is one of the moves you show.
