Would have been much better without....

... The religious dude (I think his name was Philip) and the mermaid. Everytime those two had forced dialogue and contrived emotional scenes, it completely bogged down the film and ruined all fun. Why did they think we would care about these one-dimensional bores? You could easily have the same film without these characters. This film would've been an 8 for me if those two characters didn't absolutely ruin every moment they were on screen. Now iv'e given it a 7

This film was surprisingly so much fun. It was refreshing to see a silly, over-the-top swashbuckling film. Yet again, those two uninteresting characters completely contradicted that fun and screamed of the producer's mandate to have a romantic sub-plot

That and it just made Blackbeard look soft with how he was so lenient with the guy. They didn't need to be in the film. My other grudges are that they could have picked someone different to portray Blackbeard daughter. Her in Jacks outfit fighting him.. the writing just so bad. And, what was up with the Spanish? You bring them into the story at the start, then we see them again at the very end. Just an unsatisfactory ending. It was like, they reached the fountain.. the end. I'm just nitpicking really because I read the book, which I thought was awesome.

I don't know. It was still a fun movie, and I was very glad to see a bunch of the cast return for it.

Nadia01 and Blackalaureate don't care about white people.

It does feel like the Christian and the mermaid were shoved in mainly for a side love story. Though the mermaid at least had a part in the fountain of youth plot.

it seemed like the director had a religuos agenda with this movie as it took over too much after around 70 minutes or so in. Their story was completely misplaced and poorly executed, all of their scenes felt like ripped from another movie and the core characters were reduced to the background when they had their parts.

I agree. Neither character had a hell of a lot to do with the main characters, so their side story did kind of seem detached from the rest of the movie.

The mermaid was extremely cute, but Phillip appeared rather dull to me.
