I really tried to give this one a chance, it's just sooo boring.
The plot and acting is fine, but I totally get what the reviewers were saying. It's just so boring. They kept having these scenes throughout the movie that are just unneeded and slow things down. Off the top of my head -
The part at the beginning when he's making his escape there's a scene where he's riding on a carriage, then he sort of hops on one then hops back then goofs off for a minute then hops on another one. I watched as close as I could but he's not doing it for any apparent reason. It's like they were trying to emulate the action scenes of the first one's but didn't know what they were doing so they just pad it out.
Then theres this whole deal with him meeting the impersonator which is fine but it again goes on waaay too long.
The whole thing with them telling jack to jump in the water. I'm not gonna jump, ok I'll kill the girl, no you cant something about random pistols, oh nevermind the pistols might be loaded I'll jump now. WTF and it went on for like 5-10 minutes.
The movie is just full of these scenes like where he climbs to the top of this bamboo tree even though he can clearly slip out of his bonds half-way up. Then he makes this coconut rope deal ...ok then he stops and I can almost hear the director "ok now acknowledge the rope" then hops to another tree and swinging blah blah. Theres just no context to any of it and this stuff happens all through the movie.
Its a shame because under that there is a good movie it's padded out and meandering. Whoever was scripting all the pun and action scenes was just terrible.
I really hope they listened to the critics for the next one.
