Anyone find it funny how Barbosa's ship avoided the Mermaids?

They landed on the island and were barely a few minutes on shore and then the ship filled with British sailors got surrounded by Mermaids and was attacked and destroyed in just a minutes time, amazing how Barbosa and his small ships that came ashore managed to avoid the Mermaids despite being slow moving and right in the same water, should have encountered them first and been killed logically speaking.

Also how does Barbosa and the few British sailors with him intend on returning to England and leaving the island after the ship was destroyed? Those small ships wouldnt make it far, and the Spanish they must have lost their ship to a Mermaid attack as well but it is never mentioned, no explanation as to how they left island is given.

But i always thought it was odd how Barbosa just avoided the Mermaids by a few minutes when they could have ambushed him in the water, killed him first and then destroyed the ship, even the Spanish for the sake of the story landed on the island without being killed, i guess the Mermaids are slow to react but eventually come too late for everyone, but they get most the crews.

And i would love to see them against The Black Pearl and her undead crew, sink the ship and not be able to kill the crew, stranding them in the ocean, that would be funny.

Barbossa claimed crew, ship and sword/saber of Blackbeard after the final battle.
The sword is the magical item that let Blackbeard control the ropes (rigging). Now Barbossa can control it. As shown he did so, readied the ship to set off and was gone.

Also he discarded his British letter of marque and said they'd sail to Tortuga.

The Spanish arrived first on the island. Blackbeard second and it was him who lured the mermaids. The Spanish had no interest.
Why Barbossa, who arrived as third one, was spared by the mermaids I don't know. I think it just took them too long to return after they fled.
Attacking the first ship is logical and the first ship was the large one. They returned from the open sea and not the shores.

You seem to have skipped the entire ending and not paid much attention that Jack scared off the mermaids.
