He's fairly old, so he must've been at it for a long time. Him and his wife could've just saved it up. We don't really know what she does, as far as I know. She was flying around for some reason, if it was for work then she probably makes decent money.

They moved from New York, inherited home, sold for a small fortune, sure they could afford it.

I had that same question about Steve Carell's character in The 40 Year Old Virgin. For his position working at a store similar to Circuit City, his apartment which I think was in Southern California looked kind of pricey. Then again, he rode a bike so he didn't have to worry about car payments or car insurance or perhaps I'm putting wayyyy too much thought into this.

I work at a costco myself....and our Senior Manager takes home over 100 grand a year...other managers make at least 50k salary a year plus bonuses. Employees (after some many years) make up to $25 an hour. So its not *beep* its realistic.
