I've seen it!

Saw a preview of this movie with the writer, director and producer present and I have to say, it works. It's a twisted and highly entertaining and engaging picture that really sucks you in after a while. Interesting film that has what a horror picture should have- gore and lots of it. Certainly worth watching. Acting is great from a fine cast.

Wow! Where was the preview? Do you have any info on a release date, or where it's likely to be premiered?

reply

No idea about a release date or premiere or anything, but the guys involved gave a screening of it at the National Film School in Dun Laoghaire before a Q&A, both highly interesting.

reply

Ah yes - David Keating teaches a film course somewhere - or did when I met him in 2008, just before this film was made. Good - must be near realease anyway unless they're waiting for Hallowe'en. D.K. is a really nice guy, as is the other writer, Brendan McCarthy. Must've been a good Q&A! Lucky you!

So in other words its a Hammer film in name only. Too bad. I was hoping for some style to return to the genre rather than just a rehash of bloody set pieces so predominant in modern horror

reply

Is it based on a novel?

reply

It is based on an idea by the producer Brendan Mc Carthy, though there is going to be a novelisation.

It does have a very "Hammer" feel to it, even though it was well into production when Hammer got involved...

Just watched it on Virgins On Demand service.

I didn't think there was that much gore in it. Good film, if a little predictable. Definitely worth a watch

reply

No, that's not much gore.
