My favourite character - Tommy the Asexual Loner (SPOILERS)

I wasn't expecting to like this Flick when i first saw it a few years ago. Streaming this right now and i still think that Tommy is more likeable than Brendan. Nick Nolte's character was likeable as well, but it really wasn't about him, he was a supporting character.

As a Christian i obviously disliked some of the blasphemous dialogue coming out of Tommy's mouth, but because of this character's background, i understand why he doesn't believe or doesn't want to know anything about Jesus, not saying it's right, just saying i get it.

As a loner myself i can relate to the fact that Tommy is a loner who is fine being one, he doesn't give a damn what other people think and he doesn't take any crap from anyone especially from his brother.

I called him "Asexual" because that's what this character is, it isn't a bad thing, i'm Asexual and it's one of the most freeing things in the world not being tied emotionally to someone. Tommy is obviously Asexual because the writers didn't give him a girlfriend, he didn't show any interest in having one, he was all about training and getting the money for his dead best friend's widow.

I loved the scene where he met with Brendan at the beach at night and Tommy told Brenden how it is, he didn't sugarcoat things, he just told it like it is.

Tommy was not in the UFC for the fame and he wasn't even in it for the money, like i said earlier it was for his friend's widow and her kids. Tommy didn't have any walk out music during the live events, he skipped press interviews, he was down to earth and didn't need any of that glitz and glamour.

I disliked it when Tommy cussed his dad out really badly at the Casino, it's understandable that he couldn't stand his old man, but saying those things?! What's the point? the damage has already been done, if he really didn't want anything to do with his father he wouldn't have turned up on his doorstep, he would have rather slept at a men's shelter.

I was disappointed that the movie made Tommy lose the fight with Brendan at the end, every time i watch it i always wish they'd have changed that scene.

Why am i looking at pictures of people that i don't even know?!

Tommy wasn't asexual or not bothered about the press. He was a man with serious psychological problems from his childhood with his alcoholic, absent father combined with ptsd from when he went to war.

Actually being "blasphemous" isn't wrong. Not everyone believes in Jesus or cares about all that so people can say what they want. I don't believe in it and I live a very normal life so what? I don't want to know anything about Jesus you believe great some people don't and that's fine.

As for being asexual because they didn't give him a girlfriend? Well why would they that wouldn't fit the character how do you know if he ever had a relationship it never said because It wasnt that type of film.

And yes he was doing it for the money he was giving the money to the family so that is doing it for the money

I think you're trying very hard to push your beliefs onto this movie when it's not even there at all

Lol not beeing seen while b**nging a chick in a hotel room doesn't mean it wasn't happening just cause it was not screen played....

Basically everything you say is based on your assumptions and you are just trying to correctify your beliefs on the movie and shape it that way.

This movie has nothing to do with religion or sexual choices or caring for money. It's about family drama visualised with MMA theme.

So Tommy is just like you ha? Yeah i'm pretty sure mate.A religious shut-in as you mention yourself has nothing to do with a family rackage , ptsd owner ex-marine MMA fighter.

You can't come here and throw out some cibber to make your ego touched.
