The Mountain Chase Sequence

This is hands down one of the most spectacularly imaginative action sequences not only of 2014 but in movie history IMO. The visual invention going on in this scene is staggering and pure joy to behold, even better in 3D. I know there are a lot of CG haters and the sequence is pure CG eye candy but it really works and looks absolutely stunning. The movie doesn't get enough credit for its action scenes which are imaginatively staged with great camera moves and pretty stunning CGI.

I liked how long it was, they didn't fluff it off in 5 minutes and it lasted quite a bit, good call on CGI haters, it's such a mad thing if you think about it, showing my age here but I don't even remember stop motion haters or cell animation haters.

I've lost count how many times I've watched that scene. It's awesome.

that sequence dragged on

There was a nice backend shot of Megan in that though.

Megan's booty stole the scene?

I agree, that's one of the best and most creative action sequences I've scene in a very long time.

Also, a lot of that sequence was practically shot. I incorrectly assumed it was almost all CGI, but there was a BTS video on youtube showing the making of, and I was surprised at how much of it was practical.

I haven't been able to find that video again, but if I do I'll post a link.

Personally I thought the cgi was too overdone in this scene and looked pretty bad. Half should have been dropped honestly because as another poster said it started to seriously drag. The bad cgi in this scene combined with the long run-time started to get annoying. The only saving grace for me in the scene was the end when Mikey thought April and throwaway dude were dead and Raph slid by and said they were still alive. I laughed out loud at that and actually replayed the scene.

I wasn't crazy about it. Yes, it's something they couldn't have pulled off back in the day, but it didn't look realistic either. The turtles were keeping pace with cars like they had rockets strapped to their shells. But, it was a fun little sequence nonetheless.

I thought it was neat, but it was too long...how high was that mountain? It seemed like 10 miles...
