When April and her friend are hiding behind some desk and William Fichtner is trying to shoot them from the other side. Why doesn't he just walk around the desk and get a clear shot on them?

I always took it as he assumed they also had a gun. Two people are coming in to stop him. From his POV, it'd be foolish to just walk around the desk - potentially right into a bullet.

That and I don't think he's that brave. It's one thing to shoot someone in the back or from behind something, it's another to shoot someone while looking in their face
