I suppose as they were mutants the mutagen would keep them alive...

They're mutants that no-one had encountered before. He or no-one knew for certain what would kill them.
I have no probs with the dialogue. The biggest flaw I've found which no-one else has caught on to - April is operating on zero sleep from the moment she first meets the Turtles... through to the end of the movie. All that - on no sleep lol if we're gonna nitpick, there's the mother of them all.
Ok that makes no sense whatsoever, he experimented on the turtles and you're saying that he didn't know if draining their blood would kill them? He knew that can kill them because their ANIMALS, they have blood, drain all of it and it's game over.
