Why do two different actors play Leonardo

did they have scheduling conflicts or something

reply

They got Johnny Knoxville to voice Leonardo because he sounded authorative and funny at the same time.

reply

thats great but why is there another guy credited as leonardo ?

reply

in animation they often film one person, and voice another for the same role. the one who cant move cant voice-act as good often, and oposite

It all reminds me of Hellboy - Doug Jones physically performed Abe Sapien and was overdubbed by David Hyde Pierce. Fans complained that Pierce's voice was too recognizable & ill-fitting. So they kept Jones' vocals for the sequel and fans then complained that his voice lacked character & that Pierce was better lol

What About Zac Efron?

All the actors that did the motion capture expected to be the voices as well however there was a clause in the small print in their contracts to say they could be replaced.

Pete Ploszek and Danny Woodburn were replaced by Johnny Knoxville and Tony Shaloub respectively. We can only speculate as to why they were replaced but Woodburn in particular was upset by it even said his physical performance was replaced, he confirmed none of his actual performance was used in the finished picture.

I know show business is harsh but this movie in particular treated it's cast badly. Ploszek, Woodburn, Fichtner, Arnett and K. Todd Freeman that we know of got screwed over by the movie.

reply

We can speculate all we want but the fact is - Ploszek sounds too young & high pitched. Theres no command or presence in his voice. Knoxville has that in spades. And Woodburn sounds like he has throat cancer (he voices Splinter on the mobile game, sounding all sorts of feeble). Theres a reason they were the two replaced.

reply

Ploszek sounded like Leonardo. He should sound young.

reply

Not like a forty year old man.

reply

A young voice would clash with the big muscular design of this particular Leo. And Knoxville sounds no older than Ritchson.

reply

But aren't they TEENAGE Mutant Ninja Turtles? They SHOULD sound young.

Never defend crap with 'It's just a movie'

reply

Well, they should, but rarely do since they're always voiced by men in their late 20's & upwards. The Turtles are almost never voiced by actual teenagers (apart from Corey Feldman being 19 when he voiced Donnie in the original film).

reply

I have heard Pete talk I think his voice would work for Leo,Not really a fan of Knoxville in the role

I'm gonna show you something beautiful everyone screaming for mercy
