(Halloween 2018 made so much money its obvious other franchises are going to take notice and do their own sequels to the original ignoring crap sequels/reboots)

is this movie going to be called: Ghostbusters: Halloween?

setting GB3 at halloween and releasing it then would make for big box office

That's good news!

Even though Harold Ramis will be sorely missed, I think it can be done. They can make a tribute to him like they did with John Belushi and Slimer in the original. That would be awesome. And I'm sure they can find ways to make his presence known with all of the technological capabilities we have nowadays. I'm sure Harold would have loved the idea.

But with Sony still owning a majority of franchise, I'm not holding my breath. They screwed up once. I just hope they listen to Dan this time around.

Christ Dan ackroyds looking old in that twitter pic! Even more than he did in Gross Point Blank.
Any surviving original cast members appearing in a sequel will have to be old timers handing over the business over to a new squad - so whats to say it wont be just like the girl remake?

reply

well at least it'll be set in the same universe/chronology with the original characters (no doubt mentoring a new team) Ackroyd and Hudson for certain Weaver too. probably Moranis as well.. Bill Murray? who knows. maybe. I doubt any new team will be an all girl but mixed for sure now. also I imagine it will probably tie in directly with GB1 maybe the return of Zuul. I imagine they'll go all out to show its strongly connected to GB1/2 after what happened with the reboot almost to make up for that and they have to reignite the GB brand (actually I can see them getting Murray back for this as he was pretty much the star of GB1/2 and still a prominent name in films and if hes back audiences will take notice like JLC in Halloween..so imagine they'll pay whatever money and let him do whatever he wants improv, plot etc etc)

and talking of Halloween maybe they could set GB3 at halloween and release it late October to do big bucks as the halloween period is so big now (think GB1 and 2 were set at xmas and came out in summer 84/89 in us but xmas in uk).

Who cares at this point? This will only be worthwhile if they bring back Ecto Cooler again for this.

I'd bet real money that this is a project that never leaves Development Hell.

Hell yeah! Sounds like even Bill Murray's on board with doing a proper third installment.

Here's hoping Sony won't make the same mistake twice. So far, so good.

Now the REAL question is: can they get Rick Moranis back?? Maybe he can take the place of Egon!

reply

Great news, even though the article states:

(Rick Moranis is, obviously, completely out of the question.)

That's not necessarily true. Rick thought about making a cameo appearance in the 2016 version but refused because of the script. I don't think he would object to returning in Ghostbusters 3 (2020).

As for Ernie Hudson and Annie Potts - Well, they were different characters in this movie, so more than likely they'll be on-board when asked.

reply

Oh dang I missed that part. But maybe now that this is a direct sequel and everyone's coming back he may give it a chance. Stranger things have occurred. I'm keep9ng my fingers crossed 🤞🏾

reply

Could be fun. What would be really cool would be to have the 2016 cast in it somewhere, perhaps as cleaners that bump into the original GB guys and just apologize a lot.
