Episode 16 "Sabotage" DVD commentary. What a disgrace

I loved SG:U

I can go on and on about the music, the story, the actors, the characters etc.

I also love to put on a commentary episode to hear actors' thoughts on an episode, fun facts about the set, the day, or the director's take on it, technical things or similar info. Usually fun to hear that stuff.

But this episode... OMG what a disappointment to all the fans?!

Is it just me, or is it a bit of an insult to put on a commentary on the DVD extra, and just have 3 actors sitting there watching in silence?

Personally if I was Louis, Elyse or Julia that day I would feel ashamed to just sit there and watch in silence while fans all over the world are waiting (IN VAIN) to hear some fun facts or... well just hear SOMETHING from the actors they clearly like!

Sure they had like 4 sentences between them during the 42 minutes but in my opinion you should either delete that from the DVD due to lack of actual comments, OR ask them to watch it again, this time maybe with the ability to talk during the episode because they have now seen it OR ask some other actors to do it.

To leave such a disappointment on the DVD is beyond me, it's like they don't even care, there just has to be SOMETHING there, no matter how poorly executed? The guy in the room who monitors them could perhaps kindly remind them to actually comment. If I want to watch the episode while actors silently watch it too, the actual episode is already there on the DVD!

Actors should perhaps think a bit further than "let's have fun and watch this together for the FIRST TIME" because they can (and should) do that as often as they like, just don't record it and put it on a DVD to fool fans into thinking they will hear a lot of comments.

I know I probably expect more/take it more seriously than this extra material is supposed to be but the actors COULD watch such an episode JUST ONCE before agreeing to the commentary for all the fans, couldn't they?

Louis even started off by saying that this was the first time they all saw the episode and joked that maybe this would just be pure silence. It kind of was. In spite of his own warning.

A lot of actors purposefully snap out of it and say something if there is silence for a minute or two, because they know fans expect it and because it is supposed to be THEM commenting. The way it should be.

Boy do I feel cheated... worst (commentary) episode EVER.

Do the commentary with respect to the fans...
or don't say yes and just watch at home in silence all you want, is all I'm saying.

Please note I'm not hating on the show or the abundance of extra material on these glorious DVDs but to leave this "commentary" episode on it is just a waste of space.

Reminds me of Robert Altman. On some movies he gets caught up in watching the movie (probably for the first time in years) and forgets to say much (Nashville). On others he is very informative (Thieves Like Us). The best commentaries have another director or a film historian asking the director questions. The Day The Earth Stood Still is a good example in which Nicholas Meyer talks to Robert Wise (one of the all time great directors that fortunately lived long enough to do commentaries for his classic movies).

yeah it's so strange that they actually put it on there, perhaps nobody listened to it before it was added to the DVD? If they did, it's even more unprofessional.
