Time to bring it back!

It's going on 3 years and it's time to bring this show back and the crew out of stasis. And for the writers, here's a freebie...Eli discovers that the remaining shuttle has a program to put the entire compartment into stasis...and there's your opening. Let's do this!

reply

....or, Eli uploads his consciousness to the ship's computer and rides out season 3 as a hologram.

reply

Or he does what Teal'c accidentally did in 48 Hours.

reply

I think that they should just make movies. Many of the actors have moved on to other things in recent years. The only way to make it work is to do movies like the Star Trek franchise.

reply

I think StarGate is dead. I was hoping for Atlantis...

reply

I would love to see a SGU movie.
My vote is for Eli taking Ginn and Amanda out of quarantine and the 3 bright people solve the problem and Eli is frozen. 3 years later they discover that the girls have been working in the Ancient database and the Novus database and they have increased a lot the efficiency of the ship and had created the cure for TJ.

reply

There's a problem in that Amanda's in-computer personality is much too strong. I don't see how she and Ginn could work together, unless Amanda has a fair amount of mea culpa.

Edit:
Maybe Eli will be able to isolate Ginn from Amanda, and only keep Ginn online.

reply

And yes, I'd love to see an SGU movie, too. But Emmerich/Devlin say they want a trilogy, and it's assumed they won't be including stuff from the series, because Emmerich famously disliked SG-1. I don't know if he expressed anything about SGU.

reply

Yes, Bring it back so we kill it again. One time wasn't enough.

reply

It's time to let it go and stop acting like it has any chance of being brought back. It's a live action show that requires a significant time commitment from actors who are now busy with other projects. For that reason alone, it's never coming back as a TV show. But that's not even the only reason, so let it go. I know how much it sucks when a show you loved is canceled early, but unless a show gets saved within a few months of cancellation or is either a cartoon/a non-expensive set heavy production that can be told in a format that doesn't require all the actors around at the same time (Arrested Development) it's not coming back.

reply

I agree. The only faint hope would have been a novel or a comic, but nobody wants to fight for that, they'd rather spam forums with talk of Facebook campaigns and such.

reply

We could have a movie. Like Veronica Mars.

reply

How long did it take for the Farscape peacekeeper wars to be made? Maybe they could do a mini series just to finish the story off.

reply

Farscape was canceled in 2002, going into season 4. However, they delayed scrapping the sets once filming was completed because the news was met with a massive fan campaign to bring it back. Had they not done so continuing would have been impossible because sets are too expensive to rebuild from scratch for a mini-series (they build them as an investment for a show, hoping it will pay off if it gets picked up for multiple years). This paid off for them. The last episode of the season aired in March of 2003, the news of the mini-series came out later a bit later, and production began in December of 2004.

For a show like SGU whose sets are gone, it's not financially feasible to do a mini-series or low budget movie unless they CGI the sets. And even then nobody cares to do that unless they think it can possible lead to a series order, which it can't without replacing a chunk of the cast.

Hey there is a way we can do something about it! theres a guy in Australia who is rasing funds to help make a 3rd season, but he needs our help!

So if you really want to see it happen promote this, donate to it, lets do more than take, lets show that people love this show and want it back!
It may seem crazy, maybe even hopeless, but we need to try all the same! I found out about it just yesterday and its gone from 6000 dollars to over 10000!

reply

That effort is 0.02% toward its goal. It isn't going to happen. It costs over 40 mil. USD to produce 1 season. They have a 50 mil. goal with a 2-month time frame. Too much, too little.

reply

Even if they got every penny it still wouldn't happen.

reply

Don't be too sure, I've heard rumblings about some celebrities possibly getting involved. Just give it a little time. Impossible things have happened before, the Adam West Batman show coming to dvd is proof enough.

I don't believe you.

reply

A pre-existing TV show being released on DVD is comparable to you to raising $50 million (or, really, any sum large enough to get studio/network attention as I'm sure nobody in their right mind actually believes $50 million is attainable) for a two season show that couldn't garner enough support to save it by watching it live and has been off the air for so long that most of its actors are currently contractually locked in to other projects that make them unavailable to shoot a whole season worth of additional content? Is this a joke? If so I must say that it's quite humorous, so kudos to you.

reply

Maybe your right, and the goal will never get reached, but then again, maybe your wrong, if enough people get the word out, and donate, maybe we will not get the total amount, but maybe just enough to show the big networks that stargate fans are serious about seeing more! So hey, instead of knocking down the dream, how about lending a hand to pick it back up?

reply

It's a complete waste of time. If all of this energy and money had been channelled into something attainable, like comics or a novel, then we might have had a story resolution by now.

reply

The problem is that money isn't the only issue. Unless you have a plan to get Robert Carlyle fired from "Once Upon a Time," Louis Ferreira fired from "Motive," etc., it doesn't matter how much money you raise. It's over; the actors/writers have moved on and are contractually obligated to different projects. At this point it's debatable if all the actors would all even be available at the same time to shoot a movie, but they're certainly not going to be available to shoot even a reduced season. So let it go. This isn't a cartoon that can easily be revived and it is not a show that can work with "Arrested Development's" varied POV episodes, so too much time has passed for it to be salvageable in its original form.

reply

Like Xaeden said: let it go.

I am not knocking it down. I am being realistic.

A better use of optimistic efforts toward Stargate would be through the future of the franchise (including the original movie's continuity, aka canon), not a past TV show.

I love the shows, including SGU, and I even wish SGU would've had more seasons or a movie. However, it is time to move on. It has been for some time now.

There is a possibility the original will be remade and turned into a trilogy. Nobody knows at this point if or when it'll happen but it is a possibility. There might be a slim chance of that happening, although I am positive there's a better chance of getting a Stargate reboot+trilogy from the creators than some fan-driven fundraiser extension to 1 of the 3 shows, which also had the shortest lifespan of all the shows.

It doesn't really matter, either way, the franchise had a powerful impact on the sci-fi viewing audience - which is now cosmically gigantic with the countless masses of sci-fi fans across the world - the franchise will live on in some form or another.

We might see a new movie(s) or a new TV series. It might be an old continuity revived or a completely new continuity. We will see something.

Being realistic, I would bet that there is just about as much of a chance of seeing more SGU as there is raising $50,000,000 in 2 months.

In other words, 0.02%.

The effort has been suspended.
Legal reasons?

Or make a Stargate series that doesn't suck out loud.
They did it twice.
