I'll believe it when I see it. I hope it isn't true though.

As do I. Brad Wright had said when Universe was cancelled that he pitched a movie that wrapped up Universe's main story line and a crossover one featuring characters such as Daniel, Carter and McKay arriving on Destiny. Guess we'll never get to see that. Or Stargate: Extinction or Revolution for that matter. All of which I would be infinitely more excited about seeing than a reboot.

There might yet be more to the stories from the shows, just not yet. The reboot+trilogy is good news. It is Stargate.

reply

I'm invested in the characters and the lore, not the brand name.

A reboot is typically like New Coke, while I prefer SGU, which is classic Cola, or something Coke Zero/Diet Coke (less sugary).

I'm sure most of us want the old, original Star Gate.. But there is a point in time when the characters get older and the series has very little room to grow.

Granted SGU had an awesome story line and a great possible future, but that's pretty much dead in the water.

I welcome a reboot. I don't particularly want it all that much, but I miss stargate like mad! If they do it right, it could be great.

reply

Yeah I have no interest in a reboot, in fact I would be unlikely to even watch a reboot at all when i know it will be killing all chance of any continuation of the many series.
I'd much rather see the continuation of what happens in the Pegasus galaxy or the wrap up for the Destiny crew.

It's gonna be based on the original movie. The difference is that in the original, there are only two gates. You can't dial a other gate, if they even exists.

I surely hope they will continiue with the stargate as we know it (SG-1) instead of the original, small story.

reply

They might have more than 2 gates this time around.

reply

Then what would be the point of the "dialing"?
If it only ever does one thing, there would only be be need for one button.

I was just happy to see that Robert Carlyle get some steady work.
If you saw him in TRAINSPOTTING, or 28 WEEKS LATER, will know what i mean...

I agree, I think he's one of the most talented actors working today. He's the best part of Once Upon A Time. And it's awesome how he and the rest of the original cast are now working on the sequel! It's based on Welsh's book set 20 years after Trainspotting.

I am still upset that they never finished SGU..
Sure I love the original Stargate which I started watching when the film came out, and then with each series. But all of those had something to wrap up the series with, other than SGU and it will always bother me that it didn't get the ending that it surely deserved.

Now we know they had to enter the pods for years (3 years), the last episode being 2011, and then the announce of a reboot or something in 2014 made it seem like they could still do something with SGU.

Now the problem with trying to complete it might be with the actors. One is on Marvel's Agents of Shield and the other is on Once Upon a Time.
I think Once Upon a Time might be wrapping up soon so that will free up Rush, but Marvel's Agent of Shield will have Camile being a toss up on wrapping up the series maybe with an ending movie. (I am not really sure of any of the other actors and what they might be currently doing, those are the only 2 other shows I watch now that I remember them in)..

I am still happy to hear that something might come of Stargate reboot but again I wish they could do something to wrap up SGU
