Scarlet Letter unfilmable?
Is The Scarlet Letter pretty much unfilmable? There's hardly any eventfulness in it. An accurate movie of the book would consist mainly of people standing around talking to each other and making soliloquies.

shareI wouldn't call it unfilmable, but there is definitely an emphasis on dialogue over action. There was a 1979 miniseries starring John Heard and Meg Foster that's actually very good, and pretty faithful to the book. I watched it in school.
The Demi Moore version is total *beep* The only reason to watch is for the hotness of Gary Oldman.
