Olive's clothes

Do American schools usually let girls to wear strapless tops and (what looks like) lacey lingerie tops to school? I mean, my school wasn't exactly strict but we would have been sent home for wearing that sort of stuff to school.

The school I went to she would have been fine, they pretty much ignored the dress code thing.

i live in miami, when i was in high school (i am 28 years old) dressing like that was VERY common. I remember girls would wear strappy really short dresses and high heels. I am not a prude, but even i was weirded out by these girls wearing such short dresses just to go to high school, lol.

Right as i graduated the school started a uniform rule, and people had to wear polo shirts with khaki pants. from what i've seen when i drive by, uniforms are still worn. Somehow, i think it might have been for the best...

Well I saw people wear strap tops and some never seemed to get into trouble. I think the high school dress code was more lax. I got sent home when I wore shorts on a cold day in Elementry. I never chanced it and was very careful for the most part after that.

Well, I live in Seattle where it's more on the chilly side and raining about 9 months out of the year, so they likely would have been pretty cold if they wore that. My school had a dress code but I never knew anyone to be sent home for being dressed too skimpy. I knew a few people sent home for drug references on their clothes or pants being too saggy (that was more in junior high when that fashion was popular for some reason I still don't understand).

It's California.

There's a scene where she points out that she checked the dress code and none of the things she wore violated it.
