Plot made no sense?

I kind of liked the movie and it had it's moment. But did I completely miss the plot or did it not make much sense?

Sonny tricked her husband that Don had an inheritance, but why would Sonny do that? Her problem was to get rid of her husband, not to trick Don. Did she really expect that she could convince a stranger to kill for her? And why would she involve other people as well. If she was that crazy, she would have just killed her husband and then gotten the inheritance since she was on top of his list. The whole plan made very little sense.
Or did I miss something?

Why did the husband go along with the ruse? Just because she said Don had money? How did he think they were going to get the money from Don? If he was really doing to let Don marry her why did he get jealous?

They had a bit of a concept but didn't pull it all together.

Yes, and note that he had recently lost his job as a fireman, too. In communities like that, it's not exactly easy to find another local job. There aren't that many jobs available.
How did he think they were going to get the money from Don?
There was probably a fictitious plan presented to kill Don after they got married.
If he was really doing to let Don marry her why did he get jealous?
Not at all an uncommon thing in human behavior. For example, people sometimes want to try a bit of experimentation with partners because of fantasies they have about having an open marriage, or a menage a trois, or participating in an orgy, or watching their partner with someone else, etc.--there are all kinds of pertinent fantasies that folks have. But when it actually starts happening, it's different than a fantasy and some folks freak out.

So it wouldn't be unusual for someone to give their permission for something like this, but then freak out once they realize the implications of it that have actualized.

"Its not that he plot doesn't make sense, its just that its not that good..."

Yep. You need to just go with it and not follow too closely. They're creating a scenario and forcing the outcome.

Throughout the movie I kept saying to myself "wait a minute, people don't ever behave like that".

My list of 30 examples got whittled down a bit by various reveals in the plot where bizarre behavior could possibly be explained by something ina charcter's past or motiviation. But my overall memory of this film forever will probably be 3/10 -- people don't ever behave like that.

I thought the final scene reveal would be that Don had spent the whole movie in a drug-induced dream. That would have explained things satisfactorily.
