Non-linear question (spoilers)

After the ending I'm not sure if Miriam did the thing. If she did, I am confused about when she did it.

At the final scene of the party, we don't see Dylan, but nobody is concerned about him being missing so I assume he's present.

And, Miriam has long hair so either everything happens after this party (and her tearful final expression is showing us that she is deciding whst she will do after this) or, did everything happen in her imagination?

I'm leaning toward the latter because, how did she become such an expert in murdered body disposal? I think the trauma made her live an alternate scenario in her mind where she let her vengeance run free.

Good theory, hard to tell as it was told in non linear fashion. I think the end scene was after the rape and before the murder. I also think the murder happened quiet a time after the rape, the respective partners were nowhere to be seen, maybe they both had divorced by then.

i don't think you could really say based only on what the movie shows you. it all felt very open-ended to me.

the fact that she was able to strangle him, even though he clearly could clearly have thrashed her to death without breaking a sweat, supports that this is a revenge fantasy not taking place in the real world, perhaps.

Remember, he had a head injury.

Just watched it last night and was wondering the same thing. I think the things we saw on screen were the things she wanted to do but did not do them. But I don't know if he really raped her but the fire or if that was in her mind also. If anyone here has seen it give your thought about it. Thanks.

I just watched. I think this is a case of unreliable narrator coupled with non linear story which makes it hard to parse. Personally I think the fireside happened. i think she did murder him after the final scene which takes place some point in between. There were multiple "violations" in this film between all the characters. i found it interesting. especially the dynamic between sisters. i'd say in the final scene the dark haired sister felt her love for her sister and considered it her duty to get revenge on the husband.

I Googled this flick and read up on it and I believe it happened but the filmmakers did a poor job of revealing how scenes were to be interpreted. One interview with the filmmakers seems to reveal that she did kill and dismember the rapist.

Did everyone else catch that she fed cremains to her sister in her ice cream? That zipped right over my head.

If that is the case, that would mean during the scenes of preparing for the party with Dylan's family and the final scene for said party, that would mean Dylan was indeed dead/missing for quite some time. Which makes sense if I am understanding it correctly, but odd there would still be a party.

I would have to watch again to understand the point of cutting her hair and the wig, and the hotel scene. I was a little lost as to what we were supposed to learn from that.
