Evil Dead

Ash would have toasted those bargain bin zombies (dying to a soccer kick to the head equals a fail zombie)

I can't believe the film ripped off so many other movies and then never took it all the way.

The quick-cuts (a direct editing rip-off from the Evil Dead series) was funny at first but they never fully utilized the potential of the effect or the film.

The amputation scene could have been done better with a chainsaw attachment (it was lying there waiting to be used).

I felt like this movie had a ton of potential but instead decided to do half rip-offs, making it a full movie of half rip-offs.

I think the only thing that was genuinely original was the crotch bite and the suggestion of amputation.

They're homages. Nods. References. A rip-off is when the filmmakers try to pawn off someone else's stuff as their own...the references in Dead Snow serve as winks to the audience that the makers of Dead Snow love these movies, and understand the genre lineage. I would think that this would be obvious in a film where one of the main characters is a movie geek.

The amputation was ripped off from Evil Dead too. The whole thing felt like an Evil Dead rip off, with a much less likable hero and nazi zombies stepping in for the villains.
