Right from the beginning, you can tell that the writer can't write dialogue worth a damn. Julie Roberts delivers her "I hate people" speech and it sounds like nothing that anyone would ever say in real life. Using ChatGPT to write scripts is going to be SO MUCH better than this. Guranteed.
That was meant to be over the top, you can also tell it from the camera zoom (if you are talking about the opening scene). But I agree that the dialogue was not particularly good and movies of this type need good dialogue to keep the attention throughout the slow parts. For example, they could have improved the movie just by cutting away the nothingburger exchange between Hawke and Myhala by the pool.
One thing I like about the old Hollywood movies how good and tight the dialogue is. Today this is a lost craft.
