He's even the only one of the good mutants who dies, to make matters worse.

Totally tight the same thing. It's such a shame because Darwin was one of the more mutants with a more interesting ability. It would have been cool to see him stick around. Angel always kind of seemed pointless to me.

Because the black guy dying first happens so often in X men movies...

That cliche is out of date now. And doesn't apply to this franchise. You may want to pick your battles better.
