character ages

I just rewatched this film and was confused by Magneto/Eric's response to Raven/Mystique's sexual advances towards him. She was naked on his bed and asked about the view and he responded, 'maybe in a few years.'

Now the intro of Eric as a child was in 1944, he looked 14 but in an earlier X-men film where the scene was lifted, he looked about 11 or younger. I imagine that they needed a good enough child actor to pull off the extended scene and got an older actor to play a younger character. So let's say, his age is between 11-14 in 1944, being born in 1930 at the earliest.

The next scene is of Charles in 1944 and he looked about 12 perhaps, but he could be playing someone younger so maybe 10-12? Born 1934, even 1935 at the latest perhaps?

Mystique is introduced in the same scene, a few years younger than Charles, she looked 8-10 but let's say she was 8 at her youngest, born 1936 at the earliest.

So even if Eric was 14 at his oldest age in 1944 and Mystique was 8 at her earliest, that would be a 6 year gap only.

Most of the film is set in 1962, so:

Eric: 32 years old at most & 29 years old at his youngest

Mystique: 26 years old at her youngest and 28 at her oldest

So why would Eric reason Mystique's young age as the hindrance to their intimacy?

Also, both Charles and Eric refer to the rest of the kids as 'kids' but they seemed to attach Mystique into that group when she should be closer to their age no? Also, what about Beast? He is introduced as a scientist (which would need years of study and practice to be a part of the CIA) and is a potential love interest of Mystique, so I assume he's playing a character in his 20s. But is he a part of the 'kids' group?

Shouldn't both Mystique and Beast be closer to Charles and Eric's ages?

I assumed their ages from oldest to youngest of the 4 would be:

Eric>Charles>Beast = Mystique

How old are they supposed to be?

Also Havock is introduced here as a kid so let's say he's a teenager, about 17 in 1962? His brother Cyclops is later introduced to us in 1983, perhaps he's 17 in the 3rd film. So is that a 21 year age gap between brothers?

And are both Charles and Eric/Magneto supposed to be nearing 50 by the 3rd film? Because they look very young and did they even try to age them? Moira seems to have been aged a bit but not by much.

4 - Her MIND ages slower? Says who? When? Never heard THAT in the actual films

6 - Again, aside form Mystique and Wolverine and Sabretooth, I do not believe that's EVER been said

7 - X-Men (the first film) was made in 2000 and set in the "near future". So you're saying James Marsden was playing a 35+ year old man in those films??

reply

Yeah, I'm not buying her mind aging slower either. How is that even possible? Unless she has some sort of amnesia/ learning disability that makes it so she can't absorb half of her life experiences?

Thanks for the link, though the new timeline doesn't affect the year Charles. Erik, and Raven were born.
