Hank's serum doesn't make sense

Hank tells Raven, "The serum works like an anti-biotic, attacking the cells that cause our physical mutation. It won't effect our abilities, just our appearance".

But Hank's appearance, or rather his feet's appearance, IS his ability. It is because his feet are shaped like that that he can run faster and hold on to things and use them like a pair of hands. If the serum changed the appearance of his foot to a normal foot, how then will he be able to do all those things?

It's like telling a bird, "I've invented a serum that will get rid of your feathers and your wings, but you'll still be able to fly!".

"If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving is not for you!"

Obviously, he was wrong.
