I will fully admit that Days of Future Past probably is probably better directed. Additionally, in this one, the effects/makeup (Beast and Mystique) as well as a bit of the acting (the two Jennifers) are a bit cheesy. That aside, I find myself coming back and rewatching this more than DOFP.

Yeah, First Class is my favourite X men film. It changed the tone to a more playful vibe that totally worked for it's 60s setting. There's more character development and the emotion hit deeper, especially at the end. Fassbender's Magneto was superb, his arc truly gripping, from his nazi hunting to his perfect delivery of "I've been at the mercy of men following orders".
Days of Future Past has better action but First Class has better drama, and I think Mathew Vaughn is a better director than Brian Singer.
Objectively X2 is prob the best X men film, but I enjoy FC more and feel it's kind of an injustice that DOFP was a much bigger hit. No disrespect to DOFP.
First Class by a country mile. It just rolls effortlessly along, is fun, is a joy and not an effort to understand. It’s a confection, not a confusion. For someone who is like I am—I don’t give a damn about the X-Men, their Comics or Marvel—it’s the perfect way to expand their audience.

This is the only X-Men movie that I truly love. This one, and the two Deadpool movies are the only ones that don't make me feel sick when I watch them
It was a masterpiece, and it's just sad that it makes you wonder what could have been if Vaughan had stayed on as the director of the franchise
Anyway, hopefully Disney gets it right. I know they'll do better than the shit that Singer and Kinberg gave us
It's bizarre that the only one of his films Vaughn chose to do a sequel to was Kingsman. If he'd stayed on X-Men I bet the franchise would still be going strong today. If he nailed the 60s imagine what he could have done with the 80s in Apocalypse.

Pretty anything would be better than the Apocalypse that we got. Shitty script and the character of Apocalypse was totally butchered. I like Oscar Isaac, but he's WAYYY too small to play Apocalypse without mo-cap
