Can someone explain it to me? I'm confused about all the bureaucratic involved in the Disney/Sony deal. Tom Holland Spiderman is part Sony part Disney ..So Venom is completely Sony so it is not part of the MCU, it's still possible for Venom to meet Tom Holland Spiderman but it is not possible for him to be fully integrated to the MCU? It all seems so messy ..
shareI liked this movie but Sony is doing their own spin off universe with certain Spider-Man characters. I keep hearing that Spider-Man could appear in those movies down the line but that's only the word of Sony Executive Amy Pascal who when she said it in a news video Kevin Fiege was next to her with an expression that said, "I do not know about this." I have no idea and only the future will tell if Spider-Man can actually be in those spin off movies.

shareSony still has distribution of Spider-Man along with the movie rights to pretty much all of his villains and allies. This means they can have a Venom movie, a Black Cat movie, etc. In fact, their deal with Spider-Man is that he will appear in three MCU movies (which has happened now) with the chance of MCU characters appearing in his solo movies (Tony Star, Nick Fury, etc.). What happens after that is up to Disney and Sony.

shareIt seems she was talking out of turn. Fiege and Marvel do not seem to want Venom and other movies in their universe. If Spidey crosses over to the next Venom movie or something, it could make things... interesting between the two studios.

shareMy guess is Sony and Disney worked this deal out since it would easily benefit them both. Sony needed help to make Spider-Man work again, after the tepid reception of Amazing Spider-Man with Andrew Garfield. And MCU finally getting to use Spider-Man just makes everything better.
As for Venom, my other guess is -- Disney still doesn't know if a Venom movie will work out not, hence no deal. Spider-Man is well established as "movie viable", Venom is not.
Now that the Venom movie is out, you can see why Disney didn't rush to make a deal. While I had some intermittent fun with the film, it's also kind of a mess at times (and that dialogue...lol). It's a sloppy movie that I enjoyed, but make no mistake, it's a sloppy movie compared to MCU films.
Yep, that's corporate bureaucracy for ya.
