Or does it stand alone in its own or part of one of the previous incarnations?

As far as I can tell, it only references Spider-Man stuff, like the Daily Globe, John Jameson, etc, not MCEU events.

It's its own thing. I think Sony was hoping to fold it into the MCU at a later date but those plans seem to be shot.
