Has Upgrade stolen this movie's thunder?

Nope. Venom has a built in audience.

How about the clear resemblance between Upgrade’s Logan Marshall-Green and Tom Hardy? :) True though, the similarities between the two trailers are clear as day. But nope, Upgrade hasn’t at all diminished interest in Venom.

In spite of the fact that it was very well-received (rightfully so), Upgrade unfortunately didn’t garner much buzz. It quickly left theaters. Venom, on the other hand, can be expected to be one of the most talked-about films this fall. No matter how the film itself turns out, fact is the title character is among the most well-known anti-heroes/villains in the comic and superhero world. And while the film isn’t expected to be connected to the big MCU, it’s nevertheless a Marvel property. So with that said, I guarantee Venom will attract a much larger audience and receive more buzz than Upgrade. In fact, it already has given the character’s popularity and views for the 2nd Venom trailer having surpassed some of the biggest movies in recent memory.

Having said that, if Venom disappoints critically (hope it’s the complete opposite), Upgrade in the long run may be more fondly remembered and perhaps popular than the upcoming Venom. I LOVED Upgrade, however I hope Tom Hardy’s film delivers. Come what may, Upgrade is destined to be a cult classic.
