well first off this is about as silly a movie as you can get to analyze for this kind of little plot hole.
that not withstanding, the jump from the rope can be accomplished, first off, the rope should be tucked under her armpits around her chest, that would minimize impact on her spine. secondly, the trauma of the jump would only occur if she just stepped off the ledge and let the rope tighten in one snap. (I thought the opening sequence was quite accurate, if you hang someone with too long a fall before the rope tightens it will snap the head right off.) Anyway if you jump out on the way down you will stretch the rope taunt and then arc into a swing as the tension SLOWLY increases as your weight is shifted from horizontal to vertical. You could accomplish that, although I wouldn't try it without careful measurements.
I had a tarzan rope when I was a kid, and if you jumped holding onto the rope towards where the rope was tied to the branch, the rope would slacken and then jerk taunt and yank out of your hands. Kaboom on the ground you would go. If you jumped wide of the branch never letting the rope slacken, you would swing in a semi circle to the other tree.
The shotgun shells, well that looks like an editing whoops. all they had to do was find the shells with the gun bring them to the room and empty them into their supply box, they probably filmed the scene, but cut it for time not realizing the continuity mistake that occurred. happens all the time.
