The kid was; and the guy is, a good actor. I had to wikipedia him after the film to confirm my suspicions that it was the kid from T2.
His character carried this film from buffoonery to an acceptable- straight to DVD.
The writing seemed lazy at times.

i did mainly watch this remake because of Ed Furlong and Monica Keena. both played there characters well
