I don't understand *Spoilers Warning*

I was actually enjoying the movie pretty much until they got in that room with the spells on the walls where the writers did indeed seem to paint themselves in a corner. When the demon arms started coming through the walls, the problems with my sense of disbelief really started. Any insights would be appreciated.

1) How could the demons get their arms through the walls in the first place if the spells were supposed to protect them?

2) How could the people in the room know what to write or draw on the walls?

3) Why did Maddie get out of the room to "kill" the demons when she could have just waited for light. One could say the demons could trick her again by making it appear as day, but she should be forewarned by then, and instead of waiting minutes or hours, she could have waited way more than was necessary. Even if she waited until the next night, it wouldn't have been Halloween's. Of course, then it would have been a boring end.

4) Why didn't the demons attack when Maddie was climbing down the rope or in the basement with the injured Colin?

5) Where did that convenient rope come from?

6) Why did she jump down from the room if the room was still protected and since daylight was almost there?
