It's an old post... but I simply have to laugh at you (with finger pointing and snot running out of my nose you've made me laugh so hard).

People like you are so ignorant it is not believable. There is no such thing as an "Asian" race.

Until PC came along and told us that the word Oriental (simply Latin for "Easterner" and not possible to think of as a "dirty word" unless you're a complete fool) was a bad thing, the word Asian meant to _everybody_ but the Brits and their colonies "anybody from the continent of Asia".

The word Asian still actually does mean exactly that... despite what you've clearly been brainwashed to believe, and the fact that so many people caved into peer pressure (newspeak) and started using the term in a completely nonsensical way to avoid "seeming offensive" (even though PC itself is what's offensive).

Somebody of Oriental background who clearly didn't know what the word meant ignorantly assumed that it meant a bad thing (every race has been picked on at some point when they immigrated here, but the word itself wasn't a bad one) and said they were Asian... well of course they are, but what they did was try to claim it for only the Oriental folks. That's not kosher... it's a word that means a much larger collection of people than just them - it's not up to them to "call dibs" on that term.

If you're talking about East Asians or Southeast Asians, using that modifier lets people know the general group of people you're talking about - although they all fit into the group of Oriental. And yes, as you mentioned before, that race is sometimes referred to as mongoloid - but never "Asian" on anything scientific. Census bureaus cave to PC, but real science rarely does as precise terminology is important.

However if you say "Asian" in England they will immediately first think of India and not Korea - since they had a colony there for a long time and still maintain a lot of shared culture.

The simple fact is... Asian means ALL of the people from Asia. Look at the map and realize that means Turks, Indians, Azerbaijanis, Thais, Siberians, and everybody in between. It doesn't mean China/Korea/Japan/Vietnam/etc. only.
