Fantastic film.

Just rented this at Blockbuster, where apparently Home Movie is an exclusive. And wow, what an incredible film. The acting is top notch, the script is wonderfully layered, and the tension is unbearable in points. With practically no blood, no score, and no cliches to fall back on, the director has managed to make one of the more chilling horror films I've seen in quite a while. That he's done so without sacrificing character depth or story logic is more than a little commendable. If you're a fan of horror films, or well-told stories in general, do yourself a favor and check out Home Movie immediately.

Yep it was a lot better than I thought it was going to be and quite chilling.

Though Americans can never do horror as brutal as foreign films do with it! I would love for France or Spain to do a film like this as well. Bet they would do it really well. Just look at Martyrs for example.

Chilling is the right word indeed.

Believe it or not, I was the assistant editor to Home Movie (uncredited grr) and I have to say that there were times when we were cutting that we all kind of got chills and that's after watching the same scene for the 18 billionth time! I am so happy to see people enjoying the movie, Chris and Andrew and John worked so hard on this film to make it something new and enticing, and maybe encourage more people to think outside of the normal clichés of thriller/horrors.

I'd like to say before I respnd to your post that I consider myself someone with exquisite taste when it comes to movies- I'm a huge fan of indie and foreign films, and have a particular penchant for the darker tales or intense and surreal psychological thrillers (david lynch is my hero!) I love horror movies, mainly the cult classics, for the campy and over the top entertainment value, however I could count on one hand the number of truly frightening and genuinely disturbing movies I have seen.
That being said- I jusr finished Home Movie and all I can say is WOW- I stand up and applaud this film- this is a masterpiece! I am a genuinely hatd person to terrify- cheap special effects and cliched sequences don't do a thing for me, and being someone who values psychological tension and complexity and allure, I was utterly stunned by this film. It was brilliant, and honest to got nerve wracking. As I watched I thought to myself, "please don't let this movie have one of those dissapointing endings"- and the ending was pure, macabre terror. My imagination is totally wracked wiÞh chills and imagery right now!
Job epically done, my friend!

You did a hell of a job my friend. The film was taut, tense, and downright terrifying. I thought I was going to be bored, judging by some of the other reviews on the boards, but boy was I wrong. Superb mastery of a very fine line to walk in the horror/thriller genre.

Yeah this film was really good!

Absolutely impressed by this film. My girlfriend and I have been searching for a movie that truly scares us and this was it. I love Adrian in this movie. What a great actor. I'm glad this did not get a theatrical release, because it was rewarding to find just one copy among thousands of other movies at blockbuster. But on the other hand I believe the actors, writing staff, production and directing staff should be properly appreciated for their efforts in making the perfect film in my opinion. Thank you very much.
