Paranormal Activity

I saw this film before I saw Paranormal Activity, and to be honest I thought Home Movie was a lot more disturbing and overall a more entertaining movie. I couldn't help but be reminded of this film during my showing of Paranormal Activity.
I know Paranormal Activity was supposed to have a slow build up with tension, but often I found that tension kind of tedious and not really worth the so-called "shocking" pay off in the end.
I don't know, something about your own kids going all "children of the corn" on you freaked me out more that an hour and a half of doors creaking and swinging ceiling lights.

Both being filmed in the home-video style, I was curious how everyone else compared the two movies?

I just saw Home Movie on IFC and thought the EXACT same thing. In fact, if I were the filmmakers of HM, I would be HIGHLY pissed at those hacks who made PA. Which was a vastly inferior film, btw.

PA was finished around 2007. It just had a hard time trying to release it in theaters.

Why? Neither film is an original concept. The "found footage" concept was done back in 1980- Cannibal Holocaust.

I collect dead pigeons then I press them between the pages of a book.

I liked this a lot better than Paranormal Activity (or as someone else on these here boards referred to it, "Paranormal Craptivity" - wish I'd thought of that).
