I like that the review called it a "re-imagining". I can kind of get that. The issue is that it seems to be a re-imagining by people with no real imagination.

Since now we are hearing so much about the stage version, maybe just doing a filmed live stage version would have been a lot more interesting. Most people have not seen it on stage.

Or if they really wanted to "re-imagine" it, then why not really do it? Why not cast Riff Raff and Magenta as over 50? Why not cast Columbia as a boy in love with Eddie instead of a girl in love with Eddie? There are so many things they could have done other than the complete miscast of Cox as Dr. Frankenfurter and the silly "tributes" to the movie audience and the semi-nods to the various stage versions.

I kinda have to agree. While I am looking forward to seeing this, this new version is trying too hard to be like the 1975 film. Instead of being closer to the original stage play. It's as if the director hasn't seen the the stage play or listened to the original recordings before. He's just going to copy what was already done before back in 1975.

Oh I think a filmed version of the stage play would have been a real treat for so many people. I think the entire thing just got muddled, as so many of these projects seem to do these days. It's just a mishmash with no real direction. I am happy to see Tim Curry working but that's about it. I may "hate-watch" lol, but I don't know yet. Maybe I will be pleasantly proved wrong, but nothing I've see to this point makes me think that will happen.
