I am curious to see if fans are actually interested in seeing this or if this was just a way to cater to a much younger audience. I for one am not at all pleased to see one of my favorite movies redone so poorly but I wonder if other fans feel differently.

First off, not insulting you, just angry and passionate about Rocky.
I think this is the worst remake to ever be conceived and is a complete insult to the fans, film and legacy of Rocky.
Aiming for a new generation is one of the worst approaches to a remake because you are instantly dating it and alienating audience demographics, rather than making a good movie everyone can love. The director claiming that this is to introduce people to the story means that he thinks this will have the same impression on people. Which is a complete slap in the face to Rocky and the fans. Virgins shouldn't be exposed to this, and it should not appeal to any real fans.
Not to mention, the shadow cast that I do has a bunch of vigins every night, most through the ages of 15-24. So clearly, this generation is still interested in the real version of Rocky.
The real version is timeless, has saved lives, brought people together and achieved the longest theatrical run of any movie ever. This fake rocky was made to further milk the success of the film and fill Rupert Murdock's pockets.
There is no legitimate reason what so ever for this film to exist. I will watch it once so I can properly argue every reason why it fails. And no, there is no chance that it could be a good movie. Some people will like it, but that won't make it good.
It's not a remake so much as a restaging of a musical that has been staged with many different casts over the years. The previous movie was released several years after the stage premiere. Calling the movie the real version is as ridiculous as referring to yourself as a real fan when you've never seen the Rocky Horror Show live on stage.
I am. Why? Because there have been dozens of versions of Rocky Horror on stage for decades. This is no different. This is just paying tribute to Rocky Horror. It's not an actual remake. You guys are taking this way too seriously.
The way I feel about it is that the stage is different. People who see the stage shows are usually already established fans. Someone like you may see this movie and really enjoy it because it is a tribute to the original but being a movie it is highly likely to reach a new audience. Much of the new audience will have not seen the original and this will be their first introduction to Rocky. From what I have seen, and how I have seen it described, it is more like a High School Musical version of the play/movie. In my opinion, this is not at all how the movie should be presented. I don't want it to become some hipster fad/trend that's "cool" to watch and like. There is a reason the original is such a cult classic and has the fan base that it has today. This remake or tribute (or whatever you want to call it) is a slap in the face to the originals and that is why I am not excited about it. I also think that the casting was awful, with the exception of Laverne Cox, she is amazing. It feels like they tried to get these young trendy actors to pull a younger audience in. There have been so many fans that have come up with their dream cast that would have been eons better than who Fox chose.

I'm excited. Rhps is my favourite movie. if this is bad, it will just make me appreciate the first movie more. If this ruins the original for anyone, That person clearly doesn't truly love the original.
Exactly! As far as I'm concerned, this is just one of many stagings of the 1973 musical. I've seen it on stage a few times and I look forward to seeing it again with yet another cast.
i am a huge fan of the film, not necessarily of most stage version and wasn't much convinced by the recent BBC broadcasted one, escept for the celeb cameos. i had my doubts, but i just checked out the trailers for the 2016 movie and i have to admit, that i can't wait until this version is released. it looks and sounds absolutely fantastic.
I wouldn't compare the stage play to the 1975 film version. Yes, they are basically the same in terms of how they play out, with a couple of differences here and there. But I had a completely different experience watching the stage play than I did with the 1975 film. The stage play is a lot funnier and more faithful to the original script. While the 1975 film version has Tim Curry. Yeah, Tim Curry was in the original stage play, but we can't watch that because it was never recorded. Except for the songs, which you can listen to on YouTube right now. But yeah, I like both the stage play and film versions. And I think that this new Rocky Horror film will be closer to the stage play version than the 1975 film. Except for the fact that they are using Transylvanians again for this new version. There were no Transylvanians in the stage play version. They used phantoms instead. But I guess phantoms wouldn't work well on film, because people will be confused by the fact that there are people singing in the background.
I'm curious, not exactly excited for the remake. I Like the casting for Riff Raff and I'm pretty excited for Tim Curry and Ben Vareen as The Criminologist and Dr. Scott.
However, Adam Lambert as Eddie just seems wrong to me.
I just don't see how a series can be made from this movie. Everything wrapped up at the end of the movie. What's left?
Who said it was going to be a series? All the articles I have read said nothing about it being a series. Unless I'm just missing something.
I have been a fan of the movie since my sister let me watch it when I was 8 haha. I've gotten a few friends into the movie as well. I'm really not sure how I feel about the remake. Just from the previews it doesn't look like it will be good, but I'm not making any concrete opinion until I actually watch it. The only reason I'm excited for this is because Tim Curry will be in it. Other than that it is just curiosity that has me wanting to watch it.
