The Tim Curry cameo was actually a nice touch. I found it fun without disrespecting the original.

Agreed! Did it blow me away? No. But did it respectfully update a cult classic to bring it to a new young audience. Yes. They did fine

I can't think what inspired that remark, since the whole durability of the original relies on new fans and has been profitable and famous for 40 years because of that.
The best thing about this reheat was that the color was very good...

Thank you. I don't think you can ever top the original without just doing a shot for shot re-do, but even then, you'll get hit with "lack of creativity." A remake is always a daring project and I think this one did alright. I have my issues with it, and not all involve the original, but I was smiling by the time it was over regardless.
