Frankenfurter was from the planet Transexual in the Transylvania galaxy

A reminder for those of you who are complaining that a transexual like LaVerne Cox is not a good choice to play the role.

I'm the first one to say that Tim Curry is magnificient in the 1975 movie and no one will ever best him. And, happily, we will always have the original version of the movie to enjoy his seductive performance.

But, even though the song is about being "a sweet transvestite," Frank, Riff Raff, Magenta, and Columbia ARE from the planet Transexual in the galaxy of Transylvania.

So, just relax and enjoy the subversive message of a REAL transexual actress landing a lead role.

Just to correct slightly, Columbia was from Earth. Just another of Frank's discarded conquests.

Considering Frank was a transvestite gay man if they really wanted a transgender actor they should have gotten someone who had transitioned from female at birth to male.
Cause the character is a man.
Also stupid that they could remake this but not show two men or two women kissing.
They managed to PGify one of the most progressive and important movies (as far as representation) for the sexual revolution.
Way to go guys.

I think the problem is less the casting than the characterization. Curry's Frank N Furter was a gender-bender. He was... well, you weren't quite sure what he was. Cox would have been terrific if she hadn't played it so unambiguously female.

If I wanted an avatar, I'd have had one by now.
