Turned on Rocky Horror. But, saw an episode of Glee instead. :-(

Just wow! Perhaps I'm jaded from having seen the original back in its hey day. But, this was absolutely terrible.

The casting was just didn't have the delivery of the others; and I really had to feel sorry for Tim Curran, looked like he was half dead and propped up by a broom handle.

May just have to spend the $2.99 to stream it on Google Play, or something like that.

I had to watch 'time warp' from Glee, as an antidote.

I thought the movie was great fun, in its day. But that was a long time ago. I watched this, and gave up half way through. After the ticket-lady's number, it went downhill quickly. I wasn't expecting much, but these Fox musicals always have something to like about them. This had less to enjoy.
And this has to be the biggest budget Rocky so far. What a waste. (unless you enjoyed it. Then, it wasn't). My favorite Rocky, by far, was Glee's version. Done on a dime! The singing was better, it was more fun, I knew the characters, so it looked like a Halloween show. I always hated Kirk, but he was great as Riff. The Magenta's looked great, and Brittney made a good Columbia. Maybe because she moves so well?!! All the featured singers were good.

Agreed. I couldn't even watch the whole thing. The actors/singers are probably fine... but everyone should stick to performing not a remake as a movie but as a Broadway play.

RHPS wasn't a cult classic because it's a good movie and the singing is perfect (though it IS perfect). That's why a remake couldn't work-they couldn't be less than amazing singers, for instance--it would come out like Glee.

You nailed it. They picked the wrong movie lol

You do know he had a stroke four years ago and this is first part since?

reply

Yeah, it was quite annoying. That's why I'll love the movie always and just continue going to live shadow castings of the movie and will someday see the stage show live. This movie had a few decent-ish things to it, but overall it was just... meh...

It's Tim Curry, not Curran. And he looked bad because he had a major stroke that debilitated him and put him in a wheelchair. Of course he's not going to look good. Have you or someone you know, ever been through a strong stroke? It's not exactly easy to make a comeback from it. Just saying.

You can watch this on the Fox channel.

reply

Hadn't heard about the stroke, so I guess he did as good as he could. It's just a bummer the show didn't live up to the original.

As for the spelling error, my iPhone spellchecker ran amuck again.

funny LOGO which often shows the original movie had it on at like the same time that version on FOX would have been on

Channel Six News, they'll finger anything with a pulse!

Glee did a better version them this crap.

Yeah have to agree, it was pretty bad - not bad to the point it was good like the original - it was just plain bad. I'm a fan of Victoria Justice and she did try, but the others around her were just awful...

Particularly disappointing was the Time Warp. It's supposed to be done in a big hall, the doors thrown open with a grand entrance. It looked like it was instead done in an over sized living room you'd find in one of the large expensive homes in the "good neighborhood" wherever you might live. The new Columbia wasn't at all dressed anywhere near like the classic Columbia and was she wearing tennis shoes? Did they not even try to come close to the classic original version? Could barely hear Frank-n-Furter, who's supposed to be played by a man in drag - it's why it's so scandalous. Do they not teach annunciation anymore, or was the music track just to loud the woman playing the role couldn't overcome the music? Very, very Glee like and I didn't like Glee when it was on so this was very disappointing...

About the best thing was the usherette at the beginning of the movie, Ivy Levan. I enjoy a variety of different music, including your mainstream artists, but I'm always on the look out for up and coming artists, little heard, and I looked up Ms. Levan on Google Play Music and really enjoyed some of the songs in the listing. So I guess not all was lost, but an otherwise disappointing rendition.

Her name is Laverne Cox and I think she did a great job. She got into the role perfectly and I was impressed with her singing and dancing.

Don't say anything bad about Jojo
