Well, comments on this page go back to 2009, when MTV was planning to produce a version of the show. So yes, the OP was wrong about it happening, but also wrong about O'Brien's blessing.

He may have zero control over this. I would LOVE to know his thoughts on this though. To be honest.... he did it right the first time.
