WTF? Adam Lambert should have played the part of Dr. Frank-N-Furter
Why on Earth would they waste Adam Lambert on the character of Eddie? In what universe would they not SEE that they should have cast Adam as the Dr?

shareYeah, that would've made a lot more sense.
shareThe director said Laverne Cox was the best audition of everyone they saw, apparently. I thought she did a great job. I'm enjoying all the different opinions on this board.
shareYeah. It's a rather polarizing film isn't it? From the overall experience to the smaller details, people seem to have very differing opinions on just about every part.
shareShe gave the best audition....who da fck did he audition if that was the best audition. It was the worst performance in the show (and not because of the transgender thing) she just ruined the role with her weak portrayal.

I can't see Adam playing a transvestite. No, he was not the perfect choice for that role. I do agree he was miscast as Eddie. Lambert should have been given the role of Riff-Raff. He would have killed that part, and he would have had more on-screen time. I would loved to have heard his version of the songs Riff sang.

I have been saying this over and over again! I couldn't imagine anyone better than him if there had to be a remake done and since there was and he was in it you are so right he was so unjustly and wrongly miscast as the minor part of Eddie although he still did a marvelous job of pulling it off! As I have said to others I will also say here... Adam is probably the only other person I have seen that has that amazing, unique, beautiful, sexy, vibrant, powerful spark that Tim Curry had when he played the part originally and they both are very similar in their amazing acting talents! Also both could sweep you off your feet and for me that is always exactly how I imagined the character of Frank ever since I saw the original simply because of Tim Curry having been in it because that's just who he was! He has always been amazing! Adam would have been the perfect choice so I will always feel like this was a casting mistake.
shareIt's insane. They had the person who would have been the PERFECT 2016 Frank-N-Furter right there in their very cast. Lambert no Tim Curry but he could have at least done Tim Curry justice, and he's the closet thing we have to it. Why not have Curry play Dr. Scott? Why not have Cox play Magenta? Why not have Columbia played by a boy instead of a girl? Why not cast a really hot rough trade Eddie? Why not? The questions just go on and on and on.
He and Riff Raff played well. Lambert was a saving grace with his rendition of Hot Patootie.

Adam Lambert was offered the role and turned it down.
“I kind of felt like in 2016, to be cis and playing the role of a trans character, it felt inappropriate to me. In the ’70s, it was different. But nowadays we have such an amazing conversation that’s started about trans and gender in this world. I think casting Laverne [Cox] was so brilliant. It’s so appropriate, you know what I mean? And to re-imagine [the character], as well, because she’s entirely different. So I said no, . . ."

Sad because he would have been better. Laverne is a great actress, but over acted the part - there is a difference between camp and over acting.
That would have been the IDEA, Lambert, a man cross dressing.
