Calling it "the original".....

Calling it "the original" is sad. Are any of you aware the original is a revamp of the stage show? That has been acted out in front of the film playing for 40 years around the world, in all different ways? Hell I even saw a version on Broadway where they sold bags with props and a list of when to use them for audience participation. To be that upset over this spin on it is missing the whole point of the production and its history.

You're on the internet movie database. The 1975 version IS the original movie. Most of us are aware that it was adapted from an earlier stage production, but there's little record of that aside from a few photos and a cast album. Technically, in the original version, Frank was a blonde with a German accent, but only the precious few who saw it on the London stage and the super-fans would know that. Much like "Grease," the show evolved and subsequent stage productions have been patterned after "the original" film.

I enjoyed last year's "Rocky Horror Show Live" and went into this version with a totally open mind... but I was pretty appalled as a whole. There are things that I really liked, but they did so many things so completely wrong that it's sparked a lot of interesting discussion here.
