Rock Horror Picture Show: Let's NOT!!!

The original was so much better!

Laverne Cox just didn't pull off the part of Frank N. Furter at all! I was just cringing!!!

Reeve Carney voice was just not strong enough to do Riff-Raff justice!

Not sure what Fox was thinking...It seemed like a bad high school drama class or at the very least a Glee attempt!

The music, the actors, costumes...just everything was bad!!! It was as if the writers or producers of have never seen the original movie or any of the plays!!

And no wonder with Kenny Ortega of High School Musical directing!!!

It was bad!!! I was disappointed!!!

Now I going to listen to the original soundtrack and maybe..hopefully get this attempt of my mind!!

You're not supposed to compare them... one being better doesn't make the other bad.

Laverne had some problems at first, very little emotional nuance and emphasis in her dialog I found... throughout really, but other things she did very well..

Look, the original had a lot of flaws too, but people are nostalgic and forget that... and I think people are being a lot harder on this than it deserves.

Everyone did a great job overall, not perfect, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Well said, jmbwithcats. Some of my friends did a crazy Facebook protest last night about not watching this. Who cares? I enjoyed this one too. Life goes on if people watch it or not.

People also lose perspective... if the Internet existed in 1975, you can bet Rocky Horror would have been on it...

Different medium doesn't mean worse. It's just different... and everyone in the cast clearly gave 100%, and most did quite well... I thought Columbia's death was a bit lackluster, and when Frank N Furter says "Wait! I can explain" it lacked emotion...

But Brad and Janet were both great, Riff Raff other than his first song was great, Time Warp was hilarious, especially when the extra kicked one of the dancers in the chest... it was just insane... as it should be.

No one thinks the original didn't have flaws. It's flaws are part of the reason it has legions of fans. The problem here is we got a kidified watered down version of Rocky that has none of the spark of the original nor its stage show counterparts. I fell in love with the play first so I'm not a movie purest. If you can't dedicate yourself to the absolute chaos of Rocky you shouldn't be touching it with a ten foot pole. There were things I liked in this one I thought Double Feature was really well done, I enjoyed Hot Patootie, I even think Victoria Justice deserves a lot of credit for what she did with the role (she's no Sarandon but she put in an admirable effort) this show just missed the mark for many of us and that doesn't mean we have on rose colored glasses, it just means that we saw things differently then you. Had they captured the spirit of the original or the stage show, I'd be able to forgive some of it's glaring flaws but they missed the mark for me.

Its something you'll get used to a mental mind *beep* can be nice!

I just enjoyed it for what it was. I'm sorry you couldn't.

Jb... you enjoy pathetically tame and shockingly terrible versions of good musicals?

reply

Reeve Carney and Rocky were the best vocalists, IMHO.

I found it a little disturbing that they had people from Disney and Nickelodeon. Was this an attempt to make an RHPS for tweens or something? It's meant for older teens and adults, not for tweens.

I agree with your summary.
