I'm Going Home

This is easily the most powerful and emotional song in the show, and Cox had a great opportunity to hit it out of the park by making it her own. But it was cold and emotionless, as if they were just going through the numbers without any clue why audiences connected with Curry's version of the role.

Up until this point I was willing to forgive a lot of its failures, but they blew it big time. What a pity.

"I'm playing a role, sir. What are you doing?"

Did not show Frank n furter's downfall. Too pretentious and diva wannabe.

I think Laverne Cox was very hit and miss throughout... some things she nailed, but others not at all... this was one of the not at alls... when she says "Wait! I can explain!" there was no emotion, no sense of urgency... in fact it was quite sociopathic, I think part of that is intentional... to show Frank has no real remorse and is only acting... but there was also no fear... and Tim Curry really knocked this one out of the park, Laverne failed here... but like I said, in other areas she was fantastic.

I was underwhelmed by her entire performance, though she worked like hell and I respect the guts that it took to even show up and try to play Frank. However, imo, the I'm Going Home number was her best. To me she seemed the most sincere, plus I got SUCH a kick out of Riff Raff, and especially Magenta's, exasperation at having to sit through another number. That was the only part of the whole thing that I rewound to watch more than once, because they were so funny.

THis is a silly question, but is Cox an actual singer? I've heard of her because of her transition, acting jobs and her activism, but never singing.

This is the scene I use to show how bad she did. Im Going Home is my favorite number and she ruined it. No emotion, just smiles and monotoned singing.
