I was disappointed that the Time Warp dance was changed so much. The original was a dance that anyone could do and was fun! I have danced it many times and taught it to many people, but I couldn't do this version if I tried. Why take that dance and mess with it so much? I could understand changing up the parts when Riff Raff or Magenta or Columbia are singing before the "jump to the left," but after that they should have left the original dance in tact. Thoughts?
shareWhere I was from in Canada, we had our own version of this dance. It featured the "jump to the left", "knees in tight", "hands on hips", and "pelvic thrust" but also involved this extra sort of criss-crossing of hands and hand-in-the-air bit. It very much looked like a bunch of adults doing a cross between that old nursery rhyme 'head and shoulder/knees and toes' and the macarena.
It was funny because I saw the movie after having learned this goofy Time Warp dance and when I saw the movie version, I was underwhelmed. I thought our version was way funner.
That does sound fun and still doable. I was just disappointed in this one.
shareSame! I HATED this change! I've been doing this dance for decades, teaching other people, and even had it play and taught it to a group of people at my wedding reception! lol This was a real disappointment! =(
