FUN! I am not comparing it to the original, the same way I'm not comparing Grease Live to the original. It too was just... FUN! Laverne Cox here reminds me of Dolly Parton when she acts in movies...she is simply playing herself which is why she is so good.

shareI grew up on the original. This wasn't fun. It was a train wreck that was a travesty to the senses but difficult not to complete watching it. I had to put on the original right after just to get this nastiness from my head. Total crap that destroys the memory of the original. Just like all the other so called musicals they keep putting on tv and "modernizing".

That doesn't make it ok to destroy. Just like Grease, the Sound of Music, and many of these others. Hollywood needs to learn to come up with some original stuff instead of constantly remaking everything that's old.
